The EQUITABLE MINDS Initiative
In the United States, the demand for culturally competent mental health providers has never been greater. Yet, there remains a significant gap between the increasing demand for services in communities of color and the limited availability of mental health providers with shared lived experiences. This disparity not only limits access to care but also perpetuates a cycle of unmet mental health needs.
Our EQUITABLE MINDS initiative was created to help bridge the gap, empowering future mental health professionals who reflect the diverse communities they serve. In 2024, we expanded our PM Legacy Scholarship eligibility to include Human Services students enrolled at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), regardless of their residency or ethnicity. With the support of our donors, we proudly awarded 15 HBCU scholarships in the 2023-2024 scholarship award cycle.
To raise awareness, we produced a compelling video series for our 2024 Awards Gala fundraising initiative. The videos highlight the experiences of three individuals sharing their mental health journeys and the healing they found in representation. Click below to watch the series.
