Weathering the Winter Blues: Support Caregivers

Updated: Dec 20, 2023

Winter can be tough, especially for caregivers who tirelessly support others. At Preventive Measures, we recognize the dedication of the people who tirelessly care for others and look forward to sharing something special just for them—a revitalizing evening at the Allentown Art Museum, all about self-care and creative expression!

WFMZ's Jaciel Cordoba, on 69 News at Sunrise, recently discussed this important issue with Jon'na Monet, our VP of Home Health. She highlighted our upcoming event dedicated exclusively to caregivers. This event is a part of our initiative to combat the isolation and sadness that often accompanies winter and to show extra support tothose who care for others and may need support themselves.

Join us for a night where art and wellness connect. Engage in resin crafting with artist Chloe Cole Wilson, and explore Gelli printing with Margie Makowski. Wander the museum’s exhibits for a mindful pause and enjoy delightful refreshments in a nurturing environment. Plus, you'll receive a memorable keepsake to take home. This free event is our gesture of gratitude to those who give so much. Spaces are limited, so reserve your spotor nominate a deserving caregiver today!

For those who can't attend the event, Preventive Measures Inc. offers several tips to mitigate the effects of winter:

  • Stay Active: Physical activity is a proven mood booster.

  • Connect Virtually: If weather hinders socializing, consider online meetups.

  • Maintain a Routine: Structure can bring a sense of normalcy.

  • Seek Sunlight: Even brief exposure to natural light can uplift spirits.

Remember, caring for others begins with caring for yourself. Caregiving is a gift and a valuable yet challenging role. It's okay to feel vulnerable and seek support. We understand that support is needed – even for those who lead in caring for others. We stand with our caregivers, offering support and guidance through every season.
